wahnfood is a young catering company from Bayreuth that specialises in event catering and gastro concepts. Our catering is different from what you are used to. We don’t just want to serve you food and drinks, but rather we want to tell stories and make our worlds of enjoyment an unforgettable experience.
Our catering concepts are developed individually with a lot of heart, mind and creativity to suit every event and every location. No two are alike.
We are delighted to be here for you this year at the Bayreuth Festival.
ABOUT
Bayreuth Festival 2022
A theater created for a single composer: the Bayreuth Festspielhaus. With an auditorium in which music unfolds like in no other theater in the world. Without ostentation, reduced to the essentials: the experience of his works as a celebration.
Connoisseurs, friends, skeptics – they all come to the Green Hill every summer to engage with his legacy, away from the big cultural metropolises. Since 1876, when he first performed his “Ring des Nibelungen” as a cycle.
Richard Wagner: revolutionary, utopian – his legacy remains alive here. At the most exciting music theater festival in the world.
FESTSPIEL GOURMET
Our Areas
The outdoor area of the festival is divided into four large areas, so-called “areas”. In these areas you will find different gastronomic concepts. You can therefore decide according to your wishes whether you just want to enjoy a small snack on our “Walk of Fame” or indulge in culinary delights on our “Festival Garden Summer Terrace” throughout the entire interval.
We have created several covered and rain-proof areas for this purpose. The layout of previous years has been shifted slightly for this purpose. You will find a corresponding signposting system visible on the grounds. It is important to know that all areas have a self-service offer, where you as a guest can serve yourself at drink and food stations.
In the outdoor area of the former Steigenberger Festival Restaurant you will find our “FESTIVAL GARDEN SUMMER LOUNGE” with comfortable lounge furniture that invites you to linger. The terrace is completely covered and protects you from the sun as well as from rain and bad weather.
Directly in front of the “FESTIVAL GARDEN SUMMER LOUNGE” you will find a barbecue station with the festival bratwurst and one of our drinks pavilions with an extensive range of drinks. The “FESTIVAL GARDEN SUMMER LOUNGE” is intended for all those who would like to enjoy a glass of wine or sparkling wine in a lively summer ambience between performances.
Inside the Festival Gardens you will find our “GREEN HILL KITCHEN RESERVATION” area – our air-conditioned reservation buffet restaurant. Here you can reserve a fixed table for both breaks.
- We charge € 100 per person for both breaks.
- All food and drinks* of our buffet, as well as in the Festival Garden Summer Lounge, are included in the price.
- Reservations can be made in advance (see Reservations) or directly on site on the day of the event.
- As a visitor to our “GREEN HILL KITCHEN RESERVATION” you will receive an admission wristband. This gives you free access to the indoor area as well as to the terrace of the “FESTIVAL GARDEN SUMMER LOUNGE”.

Can I reserve a table in the “Festival Garden Summer Lounge”?
No, unfortunately not. Table reservations are only possible for our GREEN HILL KITCHEN RESERVATION, which is located indoors.
Can I book a table in advance in the “Green Hill Kitchen Reservation”?
Yes, please follow the instructions under the menu item “Green Hill Kitchen Reservation”.
Can I still book a table with you at short notice on the evening of the event?
In principle this is possible, but we cannot guarantee that there will still be tables available. It is better to book a table with us in advance.
What does a table cost for the day of the event?
The cost per person / event day is 100,- €. This includes all food and drinks* for the entire stay at the buffets, as well as at the stands of our FESTIVAL GARDEN SUMMER LOUNGE in the outdoor area. (*Champagne and whiskey excluded).
If I leave the area during the break, can I get back in?
Of course. You will receive a wristband from us upon entry, which you should wear on your wrist during your stay. This way we know at all times, even after you have left and re-entered, that you have access to our GREEN HILL KITCHEN RESERVATION on that day. The wristband also gives you access to the FESTIVAL GARDEN SUMMER LOUNGE and the surrounding food and beverage stands.
How can I pay?
You can pay in cash, by EC or credit card, or with our Gourmet Card. Card payment is not possible at all stations, please pay attention to the signs.
In the former self-service restaurant, directly opposite the Festspielhaus, you will find our new GREEN HILL KITCHEN SB-FOOD COURT, where you can enjoy drinks and food at various stations. Our self-service buffet is a purely cold buffet with fresh summery, mostly vegetarian dishes.
At our sushi station we also offer our oyster plate on selected days. Look out for the sign. You pay directly at each station. In our GREEN HILL KITCHEN FOOD-COURT you will find numerous indoor as well as outdoor seating options.

On the left side of the Festspielhaus you will find our new “Walk of Fame”, which will provide you with cold and hot drinks, the Festspiel pretzel and also our new Festspielhörnchen. You will find our stalls right next to the Festival Kiosk. The stands are combined with a 60-metre-long canopy with bar tables, so that you can enjoy a glass of sparkling wine or a bratwurst there even if it rains.
You can recognise the offer in each of our stands from the outside by the icons – similar to our to-go bicycles (see “WAGNER-to-go”). This area is for all those who would like to discuss the performances over a glass of wine and have a snack to go with it. Epicurean tip: Be sure to try this year’s exclusive Festival bratwurst and the extraordinary Festival croissant.

Discover our small champagne, coffee and ice cream stands! These gastro bikes and stands offer you refreshments and other small items directly on site. Please note that each bike or stand only offers a certain range. You can recognise this by our icon markings.
In addition to the bikes, you will find another fixed station for drinks on the right-hand side of the Festspielhaus in the area of the GREEN HILL KITCHEN, as well as the famous “Bratwurstbox”. A red carpet will lead you there. In the Festspielpark itself, halfway up the driveway on the left-hand side, you will find one of our stands, which is also open during the breaks.

This year we are offering all picnic lovers our “Festival Picnic Basket” to enjoy. Enjoy our delicacies with a glass of prosecco or wine on a blanket and indulge in the beautiful ambience of the summer festival garden. The Festival Picnic Basket is ideal for those who like to keep to themselves a little and fortify themselves for the next act away from the hustle and bustle.
You can easily pick up the picnic basket from us at the beginning of the first interval. The Festival Picnic Basket contains crockery and glasses for 2 people, a bottle of sparkling wine (alternatively white wine or rosé), a bottle of still table water, 2 Festival croissants, 2 Festival pretzels and various vegetarian dishes in a glass. You will also receive a picnic blanket to make yourself comfortable in the Festival Park.

Come to our AFTER-OPERA LOUNGE at Festival Garden and end the evening in a pleasant atmosphere with a glass of wine or a nice drink. On selected evenings with piano accompaniment.
Open on selected evenings after the performance until midnight. On these days you will find a sign directly at the entrance of our Festival Garden.
